Education Resources

For teachers – wanting to do a local history project based around the lives of people buried in Hampstead’s Additional Burial Ground (ABG).

For children – encouraging them to engage with their community by exploring the inspirational lives of people who were once part of their community and in another time could have been their neighbours.

What do the resources cover?

To begin with fourteen people or families have been chosen, as well as eight war heroes.

Based on the National Curriculum for Primary Schools, resources sheets have been put together for teachers to provide ideas on possible topics or activities to explore, and a list of further sources and online resources for lessons is given.

The resources sheets were created initially to support the 2012 Schools Project which is part of the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the consecration of the ABG.

Biographical details on the lives of these people can be found by entering their names in the Search box at the top or via the People tab.

Themes

We have grouped the people chosen around 5 themes. Click on the links to find out more.

We plan to continue with our research and to add more people over time. Please send us your feedback or any questions you have.
