Sarah Knight (1942 – 2008)

Flower Festival 2012:

pink lilies 2Arranged by Angela Read in memory of Sarah

Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit

These flowers commemorate the life of Sarah Knight, Church Warden of this parish from 2005 to 2008.  She loved bright, bold coloured flowers, in particular roses.   She was a very giving and gifted person in every sense, and this reflected in her choice of nursing as a career (becoming for a time ward sister at the Royal Free Hospital) and in the life she led.

Sarah’s warm personality and smile drew people to her and  to this Church: she enlivened and encouraged others and was beloved, most especially by her daughters, Katie and Harriet.   Despite the sudden onset of illness, she continued in her many roles until her final days, when she faced death with equanimity, committing herself into the hands of God.

Sarah’s life continues to be an inspiration to everyone who knew and loved her.
