Sir Gerald Du Maurier (1873 – 1934)

Flower Festival 2012:

Arranged by Audrey Stocker.

Gerald Hubert Edward Busson du Maurier was the younger son of George du Maurier.  He was one of the last actor-managers, managing Wyndham’s Theatre between 1910 and 1925.

Born in Church Row he inherited his father’s love of Hampstead and from 1916 until his death he lived at Cannon Hall where his daughter, the novelist Daphne du Maurier grew up.

His sister Sylvia Llewelyn Davies was the mother of the five boys who inspired J M Barrie to create the fictional character ‘Peter Pan’. He created many parts including the roles of Mr Darling and Captain Hook in the first theatre production of ‘Peter Pan’.  It is the role of Captain Hook which is represented in this arrangement.
